“Jorge Guzman and I talked over the phone about the car I
wanted and the price before I ventured into the showroom on Saturday, August
31, 2013 at 4:59 pm. That's right, only 1 minute before closing on the Labor
Day weekend and as I found out later, this was also his daughter's birthday
party celebration. We had test driven Hondas, Toyotas and visited several other
Mazda dealers in Orlando plus priced the identical car over the phone at
several more dealers outside the Orlando area. Consumer Reports helped us with
zeroing in on a final model and pricing which included available rebates.
As you can tell, I am a trained labor contract negotiator
and this wheeling and dealing is second nature based on my 30 years of
"grinding" experience. Arriving at the dealership at the last minute
was part of the strategy to get to the bottom line without forcing everyone to
compromise a piece of their holiday time off.
I'm sure the negotiation had to be very stressful for Jorge
but he never showed any sign of impatience and was always very personable and
professional. During the 3 hours of negotiation, he had calls from home about
the daughters party but handled them professionally and never once made us feel
uncomfortable even though I was being very persistent about my demands. At the
last minute, I announced the trade in of a 1998 Mercury and that started
another negotiation about reasonable pricing. After all our research, we were
able to recognize a great deal and are very satisfied with everyone we met
during the negotiation.
Jorge has gone above and beyond what I expected during and
after the sale! He volunteered his personal expertise to orient us to all the
new technological features and interfaced with others when we returned during
the first weeks after the sale. We both felt Jorge was very knowledgeable,
honest, ethical (?can you say that about a car salesman?) and truly was
interested in making and keeping us happy with our vehicle selection.
In my work life, I am responsible for being able to quickly
evaluate people and their personalities so I am pleased to say that Jorge is at
the top of my list and would highly recommend him for any vehicle purchases you
may be considering. I wouldn't have taken the time to offer all this verbiage
unless I meant it!”
